Saint Francis

DSC_0087_2DEPTH OF FIELD by Kim

This is one of my favorite statues to photograph in our backyard. He is weathered and soulful in the midst of our gardens. I love to play with blurring the background and shortening the depth of field to only the main object.

Saint Francis is known as the patron saint of animals, the environment, and is one of the two patron saints of Italy.  He is also known for his love of the Eucharist, his sorrow during the Stations of the Cross, and for the creation of the Christmas creche or nativity scene. Very appropriate as Christmas approaches.

  1. My Nana’s favorite hymn was the prayer of St. Francis put to music. This statue (at least the photo of it) gives me that same feeling of peace. Beautiful.

  2. Thanks Kay. So happy the photo portrays the feeling of peace. That is how I feel when I see it. I need to search for the hymn. Merry Christmas!
